Jennifer Saunders talks of breast cancer 'misery'

COMEDIAN Jennifer Saunders has revealed she will finish her chemotherapy in March - and pointed out that 2010 has not been her finest year.

The 52-year-old has been receiving treatment for breast cancer for several months and has now set herself a series of challenges for the coming year.

She spoke of her difficulties during a Radio 2 show yesterday which she co-hosted with her comedy partner Dawn French.

Saunders said: "2010, not my best year. Some misery, some uplifting moments, a bit of a learning curve and all that stuff."

She kept her illness a secret at first but it became public knowledge in the summer. Even then, the Absolutely Fabulous star had remained silent about the cancer until last week when she discussed her "lovely pert new bosoms" - a result of her treatment.

In the radio show she told listeners about nearing the end of her chemotherapy.

"I've got a little port here where they push the chemicals in under the skin, a little tube that goes down into your vein and that comes out in March. That's like the last sort of moment of chemicals I have to do for the old breast cancer, so that's a nice positive in March," she said.
