James gives debut single cash to CHAS

A YOUNG musician is set to release his debut single in aid of a children's charity.

James McKay, a former Jewel and Esk College student, has decided to donate the proceeds from the sale of Gotta Get Away to Children's Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS).

The singer-songwriter recorded and released his album The Self Centre independently in April, which was mastered by Wet Wet Wet guitarist Graeme Duffin.

He said: "We are hoping to gain a chart position with the single and any kind of support in raising awareness is crucial to its success.

"CHAS do priceless work for children and their families and the more people spreading the word, the more we are able to help this fantastic organisation."

The single will be available to download from 26 July.
