Jail term for thieves to ‘give public a rest’

TWO thieves described as menaces to society were jailed yesterday to “give the public a rest”.

Anthony Gray, 24, of Allanton, North Lanarkshire, and Michael Mearns, 20, of Harthill, West Lothian, had earlier pleaded guilty to resetting a stolen car and stealing £2100 worth of property from a house on January 20.

Gray was jailed for 284 days and Mearns for 267 days by Sheriff Martin Edington.
