It's green for go as Capital company wins £40k award

A COMPANY based in the Capital has won an award for technology that has helped combat climate change.

Petroc Technologies won 40,000 from the Shell Springboard programme, which promotes the growth of green businesses, in recognition of its technology that prevents leakages from underground reservoirs.

Professor Mehran Sohrabi, from Petroc Technologies, said: "We really believe our product can make a difference in the fight against climate change, and it's incredibly rewarding that such a well-established programme as Shell Springboard has also recognised its potential.

"The funding and recognition we have received will allow us to press ahead with our ambitions for Petroc Technologies and its self-sealing technology, which has global market potential.

"There is a massive commercial opportunity for Petroc. If our technology can earn the equivalent of $1 in royalties and fees for every tonne of CO2 stored, we could generate $30 billion of income."
