Irvine rape probe sees man arrested

A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an alleged rape in Irvine.

Police say an 18-year-old woman was attacked after visiting a pub in the North Ayrshire at about 1.30am on Saturday.

She met her attacker in the pub in the Townhead area earlier in the evening, detectives believe.

The young woman was led away from the road near a Gala Bingo and attacked, police said.
