Iona claims story glory

A RISING star in the literary world has been named as one of five winners of the UK-wide Usborne Young Writers' Award 2010.

Iona Stuart, 12, from Longniddry, wrote a short story continuing on from an introduction written by the author Diana Kimpton.

Ms Kimpton said: "I liked the way she twisted my opening in an unexpected direction and the way she brought her characters to life."

As part of her prize, her winning story will be published as an application for the iPhone.
