Inverness death probed by police

POLICE are investigating the “unexplained” death of a woman in Inverness.

The emergency services were called to a house in St Valery Avenue, in the city’s Dalneigh area, on Tuesday night.

The woman, who is in her 50s, is understood she died at Raigmore Hospital in the early hours of Wednesday after being taken there by ambulance.

Neighbours say they believed a man and a woman with two young children live at the address.

One resident said: “There have been forensics at the house this morning. It’s very worrying.”

A police spokeswoman said: “Following the death of a woman in her 50s in the Dalneigh area in the early hours of this morning, A Police Scotland major investigation team is carrying out inquiries to establish the circumstances surrounding the death which is being treated as unexplained.”
