A SUICIDE bomber blew himself up in a small restaurant in Pakistan's Bajaur tribal region on the Afghan border yesterday, killing five civilians and wounding ten.

Pakistan has seen a surge in violence since al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden was killed in a raid in a northern Pakistani town on 2 May. Pakistani Taleban militants allied with al-Qaeda have vowed to avenge bin Laden's killing. A suicide car bomber killed 27 people in an attack outside a police station in the northwestern city of Hangu last Thursday.
