The Bradford-based firm, which has other Scottish branches in Glasgow, Polmont and Shetland, said its growth ambitions follow the appointment last year of Tom Aldridge, former regional director at Central Insurance, which bought Castle Cairn in 2011 and was itself acquired by US giant Marsh two years ago.

At TL Dallas’ Castle Street office, existing client director Tim Mackenzie is joined by a team of nine led by Alan Grant and Helene Brown, who focus on commercial risk and private client insurance respectively.

Deputy group managing director Polly Staveley said: “We are delighted to be moving into our new offices in the heart of Edinburgh, bringing us firmly ‘home’ to the city where our founder, and my great-grandfather, Thomas Lessels Dallas OBE, started his business career – and in the very street where Castle Cairn was established in 1979.”

Staveley added: “We are proud to be investing in our people and increasing numbers in response to a growing demand for the services we offer.”

TL Dallas, which employs more than 30 people across Scotland out of a UK-wide workforce of 115, saw turnover rise 7 per cent to almost £7.9 million last year, with operating profits rising “slightly” to £1.24m.
