Instructors to show how to box clever at new club

A NEW boxing club is offering coaching and equipment for amateur fighters.

East Lothian Amateur Boxing Club on Mill Wynd, Haddington, is primarily aimed at men and women aged 25 and younger, and is the brainchild of former amateur boxer Callum Colquhon and partner Murray Thomson.

Eight trained volunteer instructors will lead at least six sessions every week at the club.

The venture was supported by a 9,500 grant from East Lothian Community Safety Forum, while the National Lottery and Sports Relief also gave financial backing. Councillor Stuart Currie, East Lothian Council spokesperson for community safety, was due to attend this week to view the facilities.

He said: "I am pleased to see East Lothian Amateur Boxing Club open its doors."

"The club aims to provide young people with a positive environment that will encourage healthy eating, exercise, discipline and teamwork."
