First ScotRail confirmed that passenger services were disrupted last night.

British Transport Police were treating the death as "unexplained", but said the man could have been struck by an earlier train.

Last night, British Transport Police spokesman said: "At 6:37 this evening, British Transport Police received a report from the driver of the 18.16 Glasgow Central to Whifflet train, of a body on the line.

"Although the man may have been struck by a train, he was not struck by the reporting train, and inquiries are continuing."
