Indian fails to curry favour

CONTROVERSIAL plans to convert a former Post Office building into an Indian restaurant have been thrown out.

Edinburgh-based businessman Sharof Uddin applied for planning permission to convert the vacant premises on Eskbank Road in Dalkeith into a 42-seat restaurant with an extra 20 "seasonal" seats outside.

More than 30 letters of objection, including a petition with 50 names, were submitted to Midlothian Council in response to proposals.
