McGregor, who was wearing an orange t-shirt and black running shorts, was spotted laughing and joking with director Danny Boyle as the sun cream was applied to him.
And McGregor’s pale-skinned co-star Ewen Bremner coped with the hottest day of the year in a different way as he shielded himself underneath a large blue umbrella.
The actor, who plays addict Spud in the film, was keen to protect himself from sun damage while wearing a vest and red shorts.
The iconic Edinburgh landmark of Arthur’s Seat was converted into a film set for the day as the sequel to the cult Scottish classic reached its final stages of filming.
