Ikea's £10k pay-out is child's play

IKEA Edinburgh has assembled a bumper payout for two deserving charities following a Christmas soft toy campaign.

Throughout November and December, the furniture giant on Straiton Road ran an offer where 1 from every soft toy sold would be donated to Unicef and Save the Children raising more than 10,000.

Customers could also donate any Ikea soft toy to local children's charities across the Lothians, with 90 gifted to Midlothian Women's Aid.

Ikea Edinburgh store manager Rob Rogers said: "The soft toy campaign is a great way to give our customers the chance to contribute to their local community. It has also allowed our customers the chance to touch the lives of thousands of children across the globe.

"We want to say a huge thank-you to everyone for their generous contribution."

Since 2003, this campaign has raise 29.9 million, giving around eight million children in more than 30 countries the chance of quality education.

The Ikea Foundation aims to improve opportunities for children and youth by funding long-term programmes enabling them to take charge of their own future.
