Ideal lessons for teachers made available online

TEACHERS are helping to create lessons for other teachers, rather than guidance purely emanating from central government, the Scottish Government has announced.

An online repository of ideal lessons has been launched at secondary level today, which will eventually expand with examples from all over the country.

Education secretary Michael Russell announced the development of online support materials for new national qualifications to replace Standard grade and upwards. The aim is for the materials, on the schools website Glow, to support teachers in the introduction of the qualifications from 2013-14.

The National Assessment Resource has had 45,000 teachers visit the site since it was launched with primary and early secondary material in September.

Mr Russell said: "It is crucial assessment resources keep pace with new ways of learning. We've made 138 examples of quality assured assessment resources available to teachers."
