Ian Rankin honoured by RIAS

Ian Rankin has been made an honorary fellow of the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland (RIAS), the highest honour they can give to those outwith the architectural profession.

RIAS president, David Dunbar, presented the Rebus author with his fellowship at a ceremony in Edinburgh and said: "As one of Scotland's best known writers, he is a worthy recipient of our highest award."

Rankin is a Hawthornden Fellow. Among other awards, in 2005 he was awarded the CWA Cartier Diamond Dagger to mark a lifetime's achievement in crime writing.
