I was convicted because I'm black, says N-Dubz star Aaron "Breakbeat" Fagan after grope trial

THE drummer of hit band N-Dubz claimed he was a victim of racial discrimination when he was convicted yesterday of sexually assaulting two students.

Aaron "Breakbeat" Fagan also claimed Sheriff Joanna Johnston found him guilty of groping the women because of his involvement with the band.

He was found guilty of groping the women, who cannot be named for legal reasons, after a concert at Strathclyde students' union in October last year. He also fondled one girl's breasts.

Speaking outside Glasgow Sheriff Court yesterday, Fagan, 25, claimed he had been "convicted with no facts".

He said: "I'm a black man and I have been tried by a white jury. It's pretty clear what happened in that court and it's the opposite of justice.

"I've been convicted with no evidence, no CCTV or anything."

When asked if he felt he had been racially discriminated against, he replied: "Yeah, of course, it's that along with my profile that got me found guilty.

"Tell me how many people could have been convicted for squeezing a girl's a**e, nearly every guy could be up for that."

The musician, of London, was found guilty of sexually assaulting the women at the John Street union. The court heard the band were performing there after the Mobo awards, held in Glasgow.

Fagan was arrested at the union just hours after he and his bandmates picked up awards for best album and best UK act.

Sheriff Johnston deferred sentence until next month for background reports.
