Hypersonic test aircraft goes AWOL

Pentagon controllers lost contact with a hypersonic unmanned test aircraft, designed to travel through the upper atmosphere at 20 times the speed of sound, about two minutes into its flight.

But the Falcon HTV-2, launched from California on a rocket on its second test flight, hit recorded speeds of between 17 and 22 times the speed of sound.
