Hurt firefighters miss 407 shifts

A FALL while carrying a Christmas tree and an accident with a hammer were among the injuries recorded by firefighters last year.

Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue recorded 121 injuries in 2009, the second highest number in Scotland. These resulted in 407 shifts being missed.
