Hunt on for trucker after cyclist hurt

POLICE are searching for the driver of a tipper lorry who knocked over a cyclist and left him seriously injured.

The cyclist, a man in his 40s, was struck by the lorry at around 8.40am yesterday on the A6094, about half way between Howgate and Leadburn.

Following the collision, the lorry continued towards Leadburn, while the cyclist was taken to the Royal Infirmary.

The road between Howgate and Leadburn was closed for a short time while investigations were carried out at the scene.

The lorry is described as having a grey or silver trailer, and a black or blue tarpaulin cover.

A police spokesman said: "It is very possible that the driver has carried on without realising what has happened, and it's important that they contact police as a matter of urgency.

"Similarly, anyone who witnessed the collision, or who was on the A6094 this morning and noticed either the cyclist or the lorry should also get in touch."
