Hunt for thugs who smashed man’s skull

POLICE have released CCTV images of two men being sought in connection with an assault which left the victim with a fractured skull, cheekbone and jaw.

A 45-year-old man was attacked as he walked towards Bristo Square from the direction of the underpass at 2.30am on Saturday, August 27. Two men approached the victim before one of them punched him, knocking him to the ground.

Police are keen to talk to two men who were spotted on CCTV in the area at around the time of the assault.

A spokesman said: “As this happened at festival time, it is possible the people responsible are not from the city.

“This man suffered significant injuries in what appears to have been an unprovoked assault.”
