Hunt for vandals who stoned officer's car

POLICE today appealed for help in tracing a gang of teenage vandals who hurled stones at a car and cracked its windscreen – in a police station car park.

The attack was carried out on Tuesday night at Prestonpans police station in the town's New Street, where a private car belonging to an officer was damaged.

A group of around six boys and three girls, aged between 14 and 17, were responsible for the damage along with a string of other attacks in the same night.

One of the boys is described as being 6ft tall, of slim build, and was wearing a grey tracksuit.

Another boy is similar height, with short dark hair and was wearing a striped tracksuit top.

One of the girls had dark hair, and was wearing a black hooded top with a white stripe down the arm.

A police spokesman said: "These mindless acts have hit these homeowners hard in the pocket.

"We would appeal for anyone with any information about these incidents, or who may recognise the description of the suspects, to get in touch with police."
