Hung Parliament: A post-election tweet for Sarah Brown

SARAH Brown had been looking forward to a glass of wine and a lie in after an exhausting election campaign – and it seems she got her wish.

The Prime Minister's wife told her one million Twitter followers yesterday: "Had lovely 24-hour family break in Scotland, glass of wine, sort-of a lie in, good to see many Fife friends at local church, now back again."

Mr and Mrs Brown returned to Downing Street from their Fife constituency home with their two young sons yesterday afternoon, as talks on a power-sharing deal between the Tories and Liberal Democrats continued.

Mr Brown refused to answer reporters' questions on whether he would resign as he walked to church this morning. In an interview with Grazia magazine last week, Mrs Brown was asked about the first thing she would do after the election.

She replied: "Have a glass of wine and a lie in!"
