Hundreds to fight merger

MORE than 700 people have signed a petition against plans to merge Lothian Buses with tram firm TIE.

The Save Lothian Buses campaign was set up in response to concerns about the future of the council-owned firm once it joins with TIE as part of Transport Edinburgh Limited (TEL).

Last week, staff from Lothian Buses took their protest to the City Chambers amid fears that the company will be forced to fund a loss-making tram line, leading to an increase in fares and cuts to services.
