Hundreds of fans turn out to mourn singer

Hundreds of mourners gathered for the funeral of a British singer who leapt to his death during a music festival in Belgium.

Charles Haddon, frontman of electro-pop trio Ou Est Le Swimming Pool, jumped from a telecommunications mast behind the main stage at the Pukkelpop festival last month.

Police in Belgium said they were treating his death, on 20 August, as suicide. Haddon and his band, based in Camden, north London, had performed at the three-day festival in Hasselt.

Around 300 mourners attended the service at All Saints Church in Yelvertoft, Northamptonshire on Saturday. Reverend David Lake said the church was full, with some mourners listening to the service in the church grounds.

Ou Est Le Swimming Pool were due to start a UK headline tour in Cambridge in October.

The band played at the Glastonbury and Bestival festivals last year.
