Huge search for missing walker

A MAJOR search has been launched in the Cairngorms for a hill walker who has been missing since last Thursday.

The search for Grant Cunliffe, 49, from Skipton, North Yorkshire was launched after he failed to return home.

Mountain rescue teams from Cairngorm, Braemar, Aberdeen, RAF Kinloss and RAF Leuchars, plus search and rescue dogs and a helicopter from RAF Lossiemouth, have been deployed.

A spokesman for Northern Constabulary said: “Mr Cunliffe is believed to have walked into Corrour Bothy in the Larig Ghru pass on Wednesday, 18 January, intending to go hillwalking on the Thursday and Friday before returning home. As yet Mr Cunliffe has not returned.”
