How Scotland has been captured in animation

How the country has been captured in animation

The Illusionist

Directed by French animator Sylvain Chomet, The Illusionist earned an Oscar nomination for best animated film. It tells the story of an elderly conjurer down on his luck whose powers astonish a naive girl in a Scottish village. They find their way to Edinburgh, which Chomet portrayed in a evocatively drawn version of the city.

Sir Billi the Vet

Sir Billi the Vet is an adventure story set in a remote Scottish community where an eccentric, skateboarding and retired Scottish veterinarian, voiced by Sir Sean Connery, leads the fight to save a fugitive beaver. Patrick Boyle recently completed the soundtrack for the film, with director Sascha Hartmann thrilled by his "uncanny ability to capture the true essence of 'Sir Billi'".
