House vision under review

A REVIEW is to take place into a decision to refuse a planning application to turn an office off Rose Street into a house because of concerns over noise.

Kathryn Gardner was told her proposal to change the use of the building at 103 Rose Street Lane North had been rejected by council planning officials because of "serious concerns" about the impact of noise in the area on the flat.

But five of the city's councillors will now review the decision at a meeting of the planning local review body next Wednesday at 2pm.

The applicant had argued that there are already residential units within similar areas.

But officials said that there were existing complaints on record from neighbouring properties regarding evening and night-time noise.
