House call for Chinese art

An auction house in the Capital is to offer free valuations of Chinese art.

Bonhams’ director of Chinese art, Asaph Hyman, will be available to book for free appointments at the auction house’s Edinburgh headquarters on Queen Street on January 30.

Mr Hyman said: “Scotland has a wealth of Chinese art treasure and I’m really looking forward to helping people understand more about their possessions.

“So many things sit overlooked on mantle shelves or neglected in attics and this is a great opportunity to find out what they may be worth.”

The valuations will be held at 22 Queen St between 12pm and 4pm.

Bonhams’ last fine Chinese art sale in November made over £24 million and featured a £9m famille-rose vase.
