Hospital bug
ban stays

VISITORS remain banned from Liberton Hospital more than a week after the temporary restriction was put in place due to a norovirus outbreak.

Three wards are open to new patients, although six remain closed. NHS Lothian said the restrictions would allow staff to prevent the spread of the virus.

Dr Ingolfur Johannessen said: “By restricting visitors, it is hoped that this will reduce the number of people who are exposed to norovirus and therefore shorten the duration of the outbreak.”
