Hospice sets the standard

A HOSPICE in Edinburgh has been given top marks by the Care Commission.

The Marie Curie Hospice in Fairmilehead, one of only two such facilities in the Lothians, was awarded the highest possible grade in certain areas.

Inspectors set aside special praise for its quality of care provided and the standard of its staffing.

The hospice costs 10,000 a day to run and helps more than 500 people a year from Lothian.

Manager Anne Willis said: "The hospice is committed to making sure that it provides the best possible quality of life."
