Hopes fade for missing fisherman

HOPE was fading last night for a fisherman feared lost overboard from his small creel boat off the Shetland coast.

The search for Karl Anderson, 46, from Baltasound, began on Monday night when a member of the public raised the alarm after spotting the empty boat. The 26ft boat was seen off the north-east tip of Unst with its engine still running. A coastguard helicopter from Sumburgh, an RNLI lifeboat and local boats joined in the search throughout the night. But the search was scaled down yesterday afternoon with no sign of Mr Anderson.
