Honours for apprentices

EDINBURGH College has won a string of awards at a competition designed to recognise the talents of students undertaking apprenticeships.

The institution, which won eight awards at the bi-annual WorldSkills UK competition, entered students from computing, stonemasonry, health and beauty and web design courses to compete against more than 500 people in the same fields.

The college’s computing department, which has consistently won gold at the awards for the last two years, picked up another gold award at the competition held in Birmingham after 27-year-old HND computing networking student Jiri Kores scooped the top honour in the Microsoft Networking Administrator category.
