Homes bid flattened

A SCHEME to build two new flats on a disused playground has been thrown out by council chiefs.

Broomieknowe Properties applied for planning permission to build homes on land adjoining De Quincey Road in Bonnyrigg.

Objectors complained that the disused playground was surrounded by a designated green belt area, and that the development of three-storey flats would not “lend itself to the area”.

The objectors also contended the development would put a strain on already “insufficient” local school places.
