Homeowners warned of repair firm axe

COUNCIL chiefs have written to tenement flat owners that use the Edinburgh Stair Partnership service to advise them that it will shut down and to recommend alternative property management providers.

Plans to close the service, which helps homeowners organise common repairs and maintenance of tenement flats, were confirmed at a budget meeting last month. The move will save the council 452,000.

In a letter to homeowners, Jim Davidson, the council's senior manager for housing property services, said all contractual obligations will be met, with services continuing until the end of existing contracts.

He recommended that homeowners contact New Horizons Property Services, the property management arm of Dunedin Canmore, if they require a new property manager.
