Councillor Jackie Aitchison, Midlothian Council elected member with responsibility for adult and community care, added: "I would like to congratulate staff for their dedication in delivering an improved service for our customers.

"Staff have continued to provide a good standard of care and support in a changing environment that is not without its challenges. A good rating is also a reassurance to our service users that they are receiving a quality service."

The Care Commission inspected the council's home care service and assessed the quality of care and support it provided - a key theme of the National Care Standards.
