Holyrood marks Charlie's Arctic role

THE voluntary work of Edinburgh's best-known hairdresser – including an Arctic adventure – is to be marked in parliament.

Charlie Miller recently raised around 10,000 for the Teenage Cancer Trust – a charity he's long been involved with – by performing the world's first hair cut at the North Pole.

He went with entrepreneur and Hibs majority shareholder Sir Tom Farmer and endured temperatures of minus 30 degrees.

Now Lothians MSP Dr Ian McKee has lodged a motion at Holyrood congratulating him.

"The charity expedition was a great success and we are all proud of Edinburgh's award winning hairdresser for his tremendous efforts," said the former GP.

"Charlie Miller's voluntary work for teenage cancer kids should be recognised.

"Miller and his team have been working on real hair wigs for cancer children for quite some time and I would like to congratulate them for their support."

Mr Miller said: "It was really tricky because I had to keep my gloves on all the time.

"It was so cold I actually had to stop halfway through so Tom could put his hat back on and warm his head up a little."
