HIV seniors challenged

HIV patients in Edinburgh face a unique set of challenges as they grow older.

That's the message to be delivered at a summit on HIV in the over-50s at the Royal College of Physicians on Tuesday. The number of older sufferers is rising because the disease barely impacts life expectancy today. Issues such as money, housing and healthcare will all be addressed.

Alison Lord of the Terrence Higgins Trust in Scotland, said: "The over-50s are the fastest-growing group of people living with HIV in the UK. This presents a unique set of challenges for those living with HIV in successfully managing their condition."
