Historic archives receive Unesco accolade

A COLLECTION of archives held in Edinburgh by the Royal Bank of Scotland has been recognised as being of exceptional importance by inscription on Unesco's new UK Memory of the World Register. The first entries on the UK Register were launched today, with the RBS collection the only corporate archive amongst the collections to received the accolade.

They relate to the Company of Scotland Trading to Africa and the Indies and are unique in documenting the economic circumstances underlying the foundation of modern Scotland.
