Hill walker in ravine fall

AN injured hill walker was yesterday airlifted to hospital after plunging 40ft down a ravine in a glen in Highland Perthshire.

The man, part of a group of four hill walkers in Glen Lyon, sustained leg and spinal injuries when he fell near Bridge of Balgie on the Meggernie Estate in the glen near Aberfeldy.

Members of the Tayside Police mountain rescue team, civilian rescuers and paramedics were called to the scene after the other walkers he was with raised the alarm.

A Sea King helicopter from RAF Lossiemouth airlifted the injured man to Dundee's Ninewells hospital.
