Highway worker is killed in A1 collision

HIGHWAY worker Ernest Mathers, 46, from Doncaster, was killed after a collision with a stolen van believed to have been driving the wrong way on a major road, police said yesterday.

The collision happened just before 2am on Friday on the northbound carriageway of the A1 at Tickencote, near Stamford, Lincolnshire.
