Highland road closed and two cut free from vehicle following serious accident

Two people have been cut free from a vehicle following a serious road collision on the A82 between Drumnadrochit and Invermoriston.

According to reports, the collision occurred at 3.15pm on Monday (October 12) on a section of the A82 near Urquhart Castle.

Traffic Scotland said it may be shut “for some time”.

The fire service used hydraulic cutting equipment to remove the roof from the vehicle to free two people. Both are now in the care of the ambulance service.

A fire service spokeswoman said: “We were asked to attend by the ambulance service, and we are still in attendance at the moment although the stop message was received at around 4.30pm.

“We have two appliances on scene. One vehicle was involved, and the ambulance is on scene as well.

“Crews were carrying out a plan to remove the roof using hydraulic cutting equipment.

“Two persons were within the vehicle, both were removed safely and in the hands of the ambulance service at the moment.”
