High cost of a Capital life

EDINBURGH and Aberdeen have taken all top ten slots in a league table of the most expensive places to rent property.

The Capital's New Town emerged with the second highest rental prices in Scotland, with an average monthly rent of 887 for a two-bedroom flat, compared with 928 for Aberdeen's West End and the national average of 617.

Three other areas of Edinburgh also featured in the table by lettings portal Citylets.

The city's West End came in third at 859, with the Grange fifth at 822 and Hillside and Calton seventh at 790.
