Hibs goalie spared trial after error

Former Hibs goalkeeper Graham Stack has walked free from court after being cleared of beating up a man in a nightclub following an administrative blunder.

Mr Stack, 30, had been due to stand trial over allegations he assaulted 20-year-old Jack Clarke at Bond nightclub, in London’s West End last November.

However, District Judge James Henderson yesterday cleared Stack of common assault at Hammersmith Magistrates Court after an “extraordinary” administrative mistake involving a missing file.

Clearing Mr Stack, who is still living in Riversdale Crescent, Murrayfield, the judge said: “The prosecution have offered no evidence because they have no evidence to call on.

“The charges against you are dismissed. I find you formally not guilty.”

Mr Stack, who was playing for Hibs at the time of the alleged offence, condemned the “ridiculous” case after the hearing.

The player, who last week signed for English club Barnet, said: “It’s ridiculous – it’s a shambles. It should never have come this far.”
