Heroin worth £3.5m sized in Glasgow raids

POLICE in Glasgow have seized heroin with a street value of £3.5 million after raids on two homes.

A man and woman were arrested during the operationyesterday afternoon.

The raid also uncovered £175,000 worth of cannabis.

Officers with Strathclyde Police discovered the heroin haul during a search of homes in Shawhill Road, Pollokshaws, and Mavisbank Gardens, near Kinning Park.

The cannabis was found at a unit on an industrial estate in Lloyd Street, Rutherglen.

A 26-year-old man and a woman aged 28 will appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court today in connection with the drugs find.

Detective Chief Inspector Ricky Ness said: “This is one of the largest seizures the force has made this year and shows our ongoing commitment to keeping people safe by ridding Strathclyde’s streets of the menace of drugs and tackling serious and organised crime.”
