Heroin haul seized at train station

HEROIN with a street value of around £100,000 has been seized at a railway station.

Grampian Police said the class A drug was recovered at Aberdeen station.

A 37-year-old man from Liverpool will appear at the city’s sheriff court tomorrow in connection with the haul.

The seizure, which involved members of the force’s major investigation team, was made as part of Operation Shield, a campaign to crack down on serious organised crime groups.

The blitz targets the north-east’s roads, railways and ferry terminals.

Detective Inspector Alex Dowall said: “This significant seizure of class A controlled drugs was destined for our streets. We will continue to target organised crime groups from outwith the area who traffic controlled drugs into the Grampian region.”

The find comes days after three men appeared in court in connection with drug seizures worth £170,000. A total of 28oz of heroin, cocaine and crack cocaine with a street value of about £68,000 has also been found in recent weeks.
