Heroic effort as runner hits world record

A FORMER soldier attempting to run the distance of 100 marathons in 100 days smashed the current world record yesterday — but is still only halfway through his challenge.

Mike Buss, 36, has been running on treadmills at various locations around the country since June 16 as part of his Hero 100 Challenge.

He aims to raise 100,000 for the Help for Heroes charity by the end of the year.

Speaking as he ran his 51st marathon in Ashford, Kent, he said: "This is an enormous challenge for me but one that I am enjoying nearly every minute of.

"I would like to thank Chrysler for all their support since I started my campaign to become the world's fittest man.

"The Hero 100 challenge will raise vital funds for Help for Heroes."
