Help for offenders

A NEW charity that aims to cut re-offending has been launched in Edinburgh.

Caring for Ex-Offenders Scotland said its focus was on helping people released from prison to re-integrate into society by linking them with local churches. It said its sister charities in England and Wales had a strong track record of dramatically reducing re-offending.

It added that statistics showed more than 40 per cent of former prisoners in Scotland re-offend within two years of release.
