Heating oil cost probe rejected

The government's consumer watchdog will not launch a formal investigation into recent hikes in the price of heating oil.

Tory MP Tony Baldry had written to the OFT about a constituent who paid 40p a litre over the summer for heating oil, only to see the price rocket to between 54p and 67p a litre before Christmas.
