Heart scare for Kenny Richey's brother

FORMER death row inmate Kenny Richey has told how his younger brother Steven had to undergo major heart bypass surgery to get six new arteries.

The 41-year-old was airlifted to hospital in Ohio on Sunday to undergo a rare sextuple bypass, it was reported today.

Richey, 45, who recently left Edinburgh to live in Minnesota, said there was a "history of it in the family", adding: "They found his heart was almost 100 per cent blocked. I've heard of double or triple bypasses but this is just insane."

Richey spent 21 years on death row but was freed in 2008 after a plea bargain.
